After breakfast join a local Damara ranger on a guided morning excursion to Twyfelfontein, which has one of the largest concentrations of petroglyphs (rock engravings) in Africa.
Continue your Namibia flying safari as you pass the Brandberg, the country’s highest mountain on your way to Swakopmund. Namibia’s coastline has an eerie beauty bounded by sand dunes and a sea littered with shipwrecks. You may be able to spot some of these from the plane, as well as seal colonies. The beachside town of Swakopmund is known for its German style architecture and café culture, and you will spend two nights here.
The next day transfer by road to Walvis Bay to embark on a wildlife catamaran cruise of the lagoon and harbour. Look out for swooping pelicans, seals, dolphins and even sunfish, whales and turtles in season. Later take a 4wd excursion to Sandwich Harbour, one of Africa’s richest wetlands where you can observe the diverse birdlife which includes eight endangered species. Lunch will be enjoyed on the beach or atop a sand dune.
