You will be welcomed aboard The Ghan in Darwin with drinks and canapes, and you’ll have the opportunity to take photos with the iconic red locomotive. Settle into your chosen cabin, or get to know your fellow guests in the Outback Explorer Lounge.

As you begin your journey towards Katherine, enjoy a chef-prepared lunch. Discover the spectacular landscapes that the area is known for, and experience it yourself with a cruise through Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge. Alternatively, you can upgrade to a helicopter flight, to soak in the views from the air.

Return to the train for dinner and spend the evening at your leisure.

You’ll wake up on your second day in the heart of the Australian Outback, as the Ghan train begins to draw closer to Alice Springs, known as the gateway to the Red Centre. Here, you can choose from a range of excursions:

You’ll return to the Ghan for dinner on board, stopping at the remote outback location of Manguri for a bonfire and magnificent stargazing.
