You’ve arrived in Perth! Check in to your accommodation where your 8 Day Gems of the South West tour begins. This afternoon, enjoy an introduction to the city of Perth with an informative tour of the city, visiting Kings Park and taking a stroll through the Botanical Gardens.

Day 2 – Perth to Karri Valley
This morning, travel south following the Darling Escarpment, heading to the Northern Jarrah Forest. Your first stop is the Forest Discovery Centre in Dwellingup, for a history lesson about the industry in Western Australia.
Continuing south, you’ll pass Collie and then reach Harvey, a large dairy and fruit-growing area. From here, explore deeper into orchard country, on to Donnybrook and into the vast Karri and Marri Forests of the Manjimup region, where you stop at the stunning Blackwood Emporium 1864 for a delicious high-tea-style lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Karri Valley Resort, perched on the edge of Lake Beedelup, your home for the next two nights.

Day 3 – Gloucester Tree & Pemberton
The next morning begins with a trip to the Cascades in Gloucester National Park, where you will visit the Gloucester Tree, once the second highest fire lookout tree in the world. It
After some free time in Pemberton, you’ll head to Silkwood Estate. Perched lakeside and with panoramic views of the Karri Forest, this is the perfect place to enjoy award winning wines and lunch.
After lunch, return to Karri Valley Resort to enjoy the wonderful facilities of the property: perhaps take a canoe trip on the lake or enjoy a walk to the falls.

Day 4 – Cape Leeuwin & Bunker Bay
Bid farewell the Karri Valley this morning and head to the most south-westerly point of the Australian mainland, Cape Leeuwin. Enjoy a guided tour of the historic lighthouse and view the point at which the Indian and the Southern Oceans meet.
Following your tour, you’ll wind your way down Caves Road, discovering several of the region’s surfing beaches: Prevelly Beach and Gracetown. You’ll arrive at Yallingup early afternoon, heading to the Caves House Hotel for lunch.
Your final stop today is Bunker Bay Resort on the Naturaliste Peninsula, your home for the next two nights.

Day 5 – Margaret River
You’ll sample the tastes of the South West today, as you head to Margaret River, Western Australia’s premium wine region. Boasting over 40 world-class wineries, Margaret River is known for its Cabernet Sauvignon wines, amongst others.
Before indulging in the region’s wines, you’ll visit Margaret River Dairy Company and the Margaret River Chocolate Company. You’ll then indulge in a lunch at the Leeuwin Estate Winery, enjoying wine, food, art and music. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure, before returning to Bunker Bay.

Day 6 – Bunker Bay to Perth
Today, travel to Busselton on Geographe Bay, where you can walk the famous 1.7 kilometre jetty, the longest in Australia.
Travel north through to the port city of Bunbury, taking in the impressive views over the harbour and city, then travelling onto Australind and Mandurah. Here, you’ll stop at the Redmanna Restaurant for lunch and take in beautiful views of Mandjar Bay.
This afternoon, head out on the water with Mandurah Cruises, where you may be able to spot dolphins! After the cruise, continue north along the coastal highway, before checking in to the centrally located Esplanade Hotel for the next two nights. Dinner is on the wharf at the award-winning Char Char Restaurant.

Day 7 – Rottnest Island
Early this morning, depart Fremantle and take the ferry to Rottnest Island. You’ll have the opportunity to experience all that Rottnest has to offer… This pocket-sized paradise has something for everyone. Take an informative coach tour around the island’s most spectacular locations with insightful commentary, and you’ll likely meet a quokka or two along the way. After lunch, enjoy some free time before setting sail back to Fremantle to enjoy dinner at the hotel with your fellow travellers.

Day 8 – Indian Pacific
Your 8-day Gems of the South West tour comes to an end this morning. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before checking out and being transferred to the Indian Pacific train.
Your afternoon begins with a welcome gathering, in celebration of the start of your journey across the width of the country and along the world’s longest stretch of straight railway track. Spend a relaxed afternoon getting to know your fellow travellers after you board the Indian Pacific and pull away from Perth, leaving the Indian Ocean behind and cruising toward the Pacific. Tonight, a delectable dinner is served on board, featuring contemporary Australian cuisine with seasonal and regional flavours.

Day 9 – Kalgoorlie & Cook
Awake to see the sunrise unfold across Australia’s largest outback town, Kalgoorlie. This morning, delve into this mining town’s fascinating past and present, with a visit to the region’s gold-rush era, now modern-day, Super Pit mine. Decide how you want to explore Kalgoorlie with your choice of Off Train Experiences, including morning refreshments.
Reboarding the train mid-morning for brunch, the remainder of the day is spent on board at your leisure. Sit back and enjoy the Indian Pacific’s world-class hospitality as you take in spectacular views of the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullarbor Plain. You’ll cross borders and time zones, entering South Australia before dinner. Late evening, the train will pull into the almost-ghost-town of Cook for a nightcap, late-night bonfire and stargazing experience.

Day 10 – Adelaide
Spend the morning travelling through the pastoral lands and communities of remote South Australia as the Indian Pacific train cruises past the Flinders Rangers, Spencer Gulf and the Adelaide Plains. Breakfast and lunch are both served on board. Mid-afternoon, the train pulls into Two Wells, where you’ll disembark and transfer in comfortable coaches for a short ride to the world-renowned, wine-producing region of the Barossa Valley. You’ll spend the evening at Seppeltsfield Winery, delighting in a signature dining experience in the vintage cellar.
A traditional ‘Firing of the Barrel’ display kicks off the evening, followed by a food and wine pairing curated by Executive Chef Owen Andrews, highlighting regional produce and traditional methods that reflect the story of the Barossa. Here, Platinum guests are also treated to a special 100-year-old wine tasting experience.
After dinner, you’ll return to the Indian Pacific, continuing your rail journey through the night.

Day 11 – Broken Hill
Crossing another border during the night, you’ll wake up in Broken Hill, New South Wales. Enjoy a hearty breakfast, ready for the day’s activities in the Silver City. You’ll have a choice of four Off Train Experiences, including guided history, art and cultural experiences that showcase the highlights of Australia’s first heritage-listed city.
Returning to the train for lunch, admire the scenery as the Indian Pacific travels through regional New South Wales. Tonight, dinner is served on board as you make the most of your final night exploring Australia by train.

Day 12 – Blue Mountains & Sydney
The Blue Mountains is known for its soaring sandstone ridges wrapped in native flora. This World Heritage-listed area marks your final stop before arriving in Sydney. Say goodbye to the Indian Pacific after breakfast, to travel deep into the mountains for this afternoon’s Off Train Experiences. Scenic World includes four phenomenal mountain experiences, from the Scenic Skyway, which takes you over ancient ravines, with 360-degree vistas to the Scenic Cableway that glides over the forest to the valley floor and the Scenic Railway, the steepest passenger railway in the world. Alternatively, stretch your legs on a guided walk with spectacular views from numerous lookouts along the trail. Both experiences end at Echo Point Lookout, perched on the edge of the escarpment in Katoomba, where a light lunch is served.
Complete your journey on our chartered New South Wales rail service (fully hosted by our crew) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, if you prefer to arrive in Sydney earlier, stay on board the Indian Pacific to travel directly to Sydney Central Station.
