Situated on the banks of the Swan River, and famed for its blue skies and laid-back atmosphere, Perth is the perfect place to slip into holiday mode. There’s plenty to see and do. You could:
- Stroll up to the Botanic Gardens at Kings Park for magnificent views across the city
- Catch the ferry to Rottnest Island to swim or snorkel, and meet the friendly quokka
- Head to the brilliant Cottesloe Beach to try surfing or just relax on the golden sands
- Take the train to Fremantle to visit the historic buildings and markets
- See who is playing at the old WACA ground or new Optus/Perth Stadium
- Join a wine-tasting tour to the vineyards of Margaret River

After settling into your cabin, enjoy views of The Outback as you pull away from Perth. Your first dinner will be served on board, with the menu inspired by the season and the regions you are travelling through.
Wake up the next morning to watch the sunrise over the Outback town of Kalgoorlie, where you’ll disembark the train for a choice of excursions exploring the local history.
Return to the train for brunch and the views over the vast Nullarbor Desert. You’ll disembark again in the evening for a nightcap and a bonfire under the stars.

This morning, make your way to the airport for the short flight from Adelaide to Melbourne, from which you might just get a glimpse of the MCG from the aeroplane window.
Once you have made your way into into the city and checked-in to your hotel, the rest of the day if yours at leisure. For dinner you could try the Southbank, Chinatown or trendy Fitzroy neighbourhood.

On the first day of the Test Match there will be an official Pre-Match Function, featuring former Australian and/or England cricketers – and you’re invited!
And then the action begins… You will have a 5-day ticket for your chosen area of the MCG to see England take on Australia to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Test Cricket. This iconic ground may hold over 100,000, but we’re pretty sure there won’t be a spare seat in the house!
The 150th Anniversary Test Match is a day-nighter, so you will have time for a leisurely brunch in Melbourne each morning, and perhaps a celebratory glass on the way back to your hotel in the evening.
