Day 5 - Kings Canyon

First up you’ll travel to the Henbury Meteorite Conservation Reserve, formed when a meteor hit the earth’s surface 4,700 years ago. Though most of the craters have eroded and become lined with plant life, their footprints create an interesting diversion from the surrounding flat Australian desert landscape. Perfect for observing the changing colours of the landscape, this afternoon enjoy a relaxed walk along the Creek Bed of Kings Canyon. This evening you’re treated to the unique dining experience, Under a Desert Moon, set in the wilderness under a canopy of the Southern Night sky (weather permitting). The only light comes from the moon and the flickering glow of the fire and the only sound is soft music intertwined with the whispering of the breeze through the Desert Oak trees and the crackling flames. Enjoy a glass of sparkling wine and canapés followed by a four course dinner, prepared from fresh produce.

Hotel: Kings Canyon Resort, Deluxe Spa Rooms

It’s been home to the Severin family since 1956 when Peter Severin arrived with his young wife Dawn, their toddler son Ashley and 1,500 head of cattle! Sit down to a barbecue lunch and meet one of the locals, as you hear about the Severin family and the logistics of running a million acre cattle property. This afternoon we enter Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park to witness a spectacular Uluru sunset. Enjoy sparkling wine while you watch Uluru change colour as the sun sets below the horizon.

Day 7 - Kata Tjuta

Having lived in and looked after the Uluru and Kata Tjuta region for tens of thousands of years, the Anangu (traditional owners) have a strong connection with this land. Then you’re off to the domes of Kata Tjuta to join your Travel Director for a walk through Walpa Gorge. The large, steep dome-like formations are amazing and have great cultural significance for the Anangu people. This afternoon take a walk around the base of Uluru and hear timeless stories, see rock art, and visit Mutitjulu Waterhole, an historical water source for the area. This evening you’ll dine at Ilkari Restaurant at your hotel. The resort’s chefs are continually finding new ways to incorporate local native ingredients to create world-class Indigenous bush-tuckerinspired outback fare. So you’ll find a unique variety of herbs and spices creatively incorporated into the dishes, such as Native Basil, Lemon Myrtle and Wattle Seed.
