Perth Holidays
Perth is a city that offers the best of both worlds. Soft sand beaches and open green spaces meet a thriving cultural scene and a dazzling city skyline. As the capital city of Western Australia, Perth also makes a great starting point for discovering this incredibly diverse, Australia’s largest, state.
Perth City Centre
Perth’s Central Business District is a bustling hub for shopping, eating and entertainment. As well as crawling Perth’s cafés, restaurants and bars, or browsing the boutique shops, the CBD is home to numerous galleries, museums and theatres.
No trip to Perth would be complete without visiting Elizabeth Quay, where you can wander the promenades that line the Swan River and take in the stunning city skyline. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the Perth Bell Tower, that you can climb for great views of the city, and you can watch the bell ringers in action. Kings Park is another city centre attraction, a sprawling green space full of walking trails, wildflowers and wildlife.
Perth’s Waterfront Suburbs
Perched between the Indian Ocean and an estuary double the size of Sydney Harbour, Mandurah is simply magical. Meet dolphins, discover pristine white-sand beaches and encounter Mandurah’s ‘Giants’.
Historic Fremantle is a bustling port city. Strolling the UNESCO-heritage streets, amidst colourful murals and relaxed cafés, you can delve into the area’s striking convict history.
Charming Cottesloe Beach is regarded as one of Perth’s many gems. Swim and snorkel in crystalline waters, cycle scenic trails, eat beside the Indian Ocean or simply relax on the Cottesloe Esplanade, where you can enjoy a picnic and catch a live music concert.
In Scarborough, Western Australia’s laid-back lifestyle is palpable. A lively esplanade is lined with cafés, bars and boutiques, and the Sunset Markets boast food stalls, live music, and artisan goods. It’s the perfect place to learn to surf, and you can catch some incredible sunsets.
Just a short drive north of Perth, Sorrento is an idyllic beachfront suburb. Turquoise waters lap against soft white sands, making it the perfect place for a dip or spend a day on the beach. The Aquarium of Western Australia is also a stone’s throw away.

Beyond Perth
Margaret River is a stunning region, best known for its wine production. With wineries perched atop rolling green hills, you can take in the views as you sample a glass or two. Perhaps opt for a Margaret River day tour from Perth, so you don’t have to worry about driving.
Just off the coast from Perth, Rottnest Island is bursting with nature and wildlife. The island’s most famous resident, however, is the adorable quokka. Incredibly tranquil, the island feels a million miles away from the bustling state capital. You can stay right on the shores of a pristine, white sand beach, falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean.
Drive 2 hours north of Perth, and you’ll be transported to another world, as you encounter the mysterious Pinnacles. These incredible limestone structures date back around 30,000 years, and jut dramatically out of the desert sands. Keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos and emus too!
