On arrival into Mfuwe Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to the luxury Puku Ridge lodge. Located on a ridge overlooking the river floodplain, the stylish suites have air conditioned bedrooms, a private plunge pool with amazing open views, and a unique sleepout platform with a comfy bed for a night out under the Zambian stars.
Depending on your arrival time, you may be able to enjoy an afternoon safari to seek out the park’s amazing array of wildlife.
Over the next three days, immerse yourself in morning and afternoon game activities, discovering the wildlife-rich areas of the park. Keep an eye out for big cats, especially the elusive leopard that the park is renowned for, along with herds of buffalo, antelope, and endemic species like the Thornicroft’s Giraffe. Choose between exploring by open safari vehicle or embarking on an exhilarating walking safari, both offering unforgettable experiences in this legendary park.
In between the excitement of game viewing, there will also be time to relax in your private plunge pool, sleep on your deck, and observe game close up from the hide.
Day 5 to 7 – Discover Lower Zambezi National Park
After breakfast, you will be driven to Mfuwe Airport for the 90 minute flight to Jeki Airstrip, Lower Zambezi. After a short drive to the pier and an exciting speedboat ride along the Zambezi River, you will arrive at your next luxury home, for the next three nights. Chiawa Camp has a beautiful setting within the Lower Zambezi National Park and offers luxury tented suites overlooking the river.
Depending on when you arrive, there may be time for lunch followed by an afternoon game activity for your first foray into the wonders of the Lower Zambezi National Park.
The park contains a number of different wildlife habitats sandwiched between an imposing mountain escarpment to the north and the mighty Zambezi River to the south. This is one of Africa’s finest wilderness areas with a healthy population of elephant, large herds of buffalo, prides of lion and the elusive leopards.
Over the coming days, game drives will provide a great way to explore the variety of terrain and habitats, whilst drifting gently along the Zambezi River in a canoe observing game close by, is perhaps the park’s most iconic experience. There are also walking safaris and boat trips to further complement your game viewing opportunities.
During the heat of the day, guests can cool off in the privacy of their private plunge pool, or at the main pool overlooking the Zambezi River.
Day 8 – Farewell from Lower Zambezi
Depending on your flight departure today, there may be time for one last game activity before heading to Jeki Airstrip for your onward flight.
