When is the best time of year to visit Lower Zambezi National Park?
The best time to visit Lower Zambezi National Park for wildlife viewing is during the dry season, from June to October. This period offers optimal wildlife viewing as animals gather along the banks of the Zambezi River and other local water sources. The weather during this period is generally cooler and more comfortable, with minimal rainfall making it ideal for game drives, canoeing, and boat safaris.
The late dry season, from August through to October, is particularly good for fishing enthusiasts targeting tiger fish, while the green season from November to April brings lush landscapes and excellent birdwatching opportunities.
What wildlife can you see in Lower Zambezi?
Large herds of elephants are commonly seen in Lower Zambezi National Park, often near the Zambezi River, along with prides of lions and leopards, frequently spotted in trees or stealthily moving through the bush.
Buffalo graze in large groups in the open areas, while hippos and crocodiles are abundant in the river. Zebras are often seen grazing the plains, and various antelope species, including impala, kudu, and waterbuck, are prevalent throughout the park.
