The adventure begins at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. As the train rolls southeast, crossing the Highveld and the Witwatersrand’s goldfields, we head towards Heidelberg and Balfour, embracing the start of a remarkable journey.
Settle into your suite and then mingle with fellow travellers in the lounge and observation cars, soaking up the evolving landscapes.
While enjoying lunch in the dining cars, marvel at the Drakensberg Mountains, whose rugged peaks inspired the Voortrekkers to name them ‘Dragon Mountain’.
Post-tea, the train ascends to Majuba Hill, pivotal in the First Anglo Boer War, and passes by Newcastle. The evening concludes with a formal dinner as we journey towards Elandslaagte, amidst historical landscapes and tales.

After brunch in the dining cars, we transfer to Spionkop Lodge. Here, choose between delving into the Battle of Spionkop’s history or embarking on another game drive within the reserve’s 11,000 acres.
Dinner is served en route to Estcourt, amidst tales of history and nature. Keep an eye out for the Winston Churchill memorial, marking a pivotal moment from the Boer War.

Breakfast in the dining cars precedes our descent to Lions River, where we visit the renowned Ardmore Ceramics Gallery, celebrating Zulu folklore and nature-inspired artistry.
