The Kimberley Australia
The Kimberley region, in Western Australia, is vast and remote with incredibly diverse, remarkable landscapes and a rich Aboriginal culture.
Broome
What was once a sleepy Outback pearling town, Broome serves as the gateway to the Kimberley. You’d probably recognise the image of Broome’s vivid red sands contrasted against azure waters, a surreal landscape drawing visitors from around the world. You can also take a pearl tour, hunt for dinosaur tracks at Gantheaume Point and even ride a camel along Cable Beach.
Horizontal Falls
This unique natural phenomenon creates the illusion of a horizontally flowing waterfall, as a powerful tide squeezes through two narrow gorges. The falls can be explored by boat, by helicopter, or by seaplane, which you can experience on the Jewels of the Kimberley tour.
Fitzroy Crossing
Fitzroy Crossing offers a glimpse into a true Outback town, set on the banks of the Fitzroy River. From the town, you can explore nearby Geikie Gorge, or venture out to Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek) National Park and the Mimbi Caves.
Gibb River Road
This 660 kilometer 4WD track stretches from Derby to Kununurra. One of Australia’s most iconic Outback drives, the route is lined with ancient gorges, captivating rock formations, untouched wilderness and remote cattle stations. You can explore a section of the Gibb River Road on the Untamed Kimberley tour.
El Questro Wilderness Park
This private park is made up of incredible Outback scenery. You can find cascading waterfalls, meandering rivers, and dramatic gorges. The park can be enjoyed through guided tours, hikes, 4WD adventures or from the air.
Bungle Bungles (Purnululu National Park)
These iconic orange and black banded domes rise 300 metres above the grass plains that surround them. Created from sandstone deposited 360 million years ago, erosion and weathering has carved out the distinct domes, creating an almost otherworldly landscape.
Kununurra
The town of Kununurra offers a gateway to East Kimberley, meaning that it’s a great base for exploring the Bungle Bungle Range and other natural attractions like Lake Argyle and the Ord River.
