The rail journey from Christchurch to Picton takes 5 hours 40 minutes, leaving at 07:00 and arriving at 12:40. In reverse, the Picton to Christchurch train is timetabled to take 10 minutes longer, departing at 13:40 and arriving at 19:30. *
Where does the Coastal Pacific stop?
Southbound, the Coastal Pacific train stops at Blenheim, Kaikoura and Rangiora, before arriving into Christchurch.
Blenheim sits in the heart of the Marlborough wine region, famous for its Sauvignon Blanc. You can go whale watching in Kaikoura, making the coastal town a popular overnight excursion taking the Coastal Pacific from Christchurch.
