With wide roads and epic scenery, both the USA and Canada are ideal self drive destinations.
For a two to three week holiday, most road trippers tend to choose either the West or East Coast, exploring California, the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Rockies or New England, Ontario and Quebec. We recommend not trying to travel too far each day, to give yourself time to properly enjoy each place you visit.
One way, cross border car hire between the USA and Canada is available, allowing you to pick up your vehicle in San Francisco and drop it off in Vancouver, for example. You can also do the same with some models of motorhome and motorcycle as well.
If you prefer to let someone else do the driving for you, why not join a USA and Canada escorted tour? Led by an expert guide, you will travel in the company of others, enjoying unique activities and culinary experiences as you go.
Most tours also stick to either the East or West, for example travelling from New York to Toronto and Montreal, before heading back south to Boston, or exploring Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, then crossing the border to journey into the Canadian Rockies.
