When is the best time to visit Noosa?
There isn’t really a bad time of year to visit Noosa!
In Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) the temperature averages 24°C, ideal for hiking, kayaking and other outdoor activities. Spring brings blooming wildflowers, while Autumn offers warm waters and quiet beaches.
Winter (June to August) is a good time to visit if you prefer cooler weather and fewer people, with sunny days and average temperatures around 20°C.
The temperature in summer (December to February) averages a gorgeous 27°C, though some days will likely hit the 30’s. Humidity is higher.
How do you get to Noosa?
Noosa is an easy 1 hour 45 minute drive from central Brisbane, along the Bruce Highway. A shuttle service is also available from Brisbane Airport.
Alternatively, you can fly to Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Cairns and other major Australian cities. From here, it takes about 30 minutes to reach Noosa.
What is there to do in Noosa?

- Spot koalas in Noosa National Park – as well as a myriad of birdlife. Return along the coastal track and you may just see dolphins or a passing humpback whale
- Learn to surf at Noosa Heads Main Beach – or just lie back on the soft sands and watch the locals ride the waves!
- Soak in the view from Laguna Lookout – a worthwhile reward for the roughly 2 km uphill, but very pretty, walk from Noosa town centre
- Kayak through the Noosa Everglades – one of only two everglade systems in the world. You can also swim in the mirror-like waters
- Hurtle down the Wooroi Tails – over 25 km of fast-flowing mountain bike trails in Tewantin National Park, 10 km west of Noosa Heads. Hire a bike and go!
- Paddleboard on Lake Weyba – just south of Noosa Heads. Look out for jabirus and kangaroos by the lakeside
- Relax in Noosa Botanic Gardens – eight hectares of native and exotic plant species, by the shores of Lake MacDonald
- Discover the Great Sandy National Park – which stretches from Noosa North Shore, along Rainbow Beach to the island of K’gari. The towering, coloured sand dunes are nothing short of spectacular
- Ride the Noosa Ferry at sunset – and watch the sky transform in colour. You can bring your own booze too!
- Sip colourful cocktails along Hastings Street – home to Noosa’s trendiest bars, as well as great shopping during the day
