Boston & The 2026 Football World Cup

We can help you plan and book your holiday to Boston and New England for the Football World Cup in June and July 2026.

What is the best way to get to Boston?

At just over 7 hours Boston is the shortest journey to any American City from the UK, making it an attractive destination if you want to combine the Football World Cup and a holiday or short break. Airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines and Delta fly direct between London Heathrow and Boston Logan International Airport. Boston is also well connected to other world cup host cities through domestic flights via the same airport.

Which Boston Stadium is used for the World Cup?

The Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, is about 30 miles from the centre of Boston, and is the home of the New England Patriots NFL Team. The stadium has a capacity of 65,000 spectators and will host seven matches in the 2026 Football World Cup.

What is the best way to get to the Gillette Stadium in Boston?

Although the Gillette Stadium is outside of the city, it is expected that the majority of football fans will stay within the city limits and travel out to the stadium for the matches. There is plenty of parking around the stadium, and the journey is just over 30 minutes, so driving is a good option. There are plenty of taxis/uber that can make the same journey.

Travelling by MBTA train is simple on World Cup Matchdays, with a direct train service available from Boston’s South Station to Foxboro Station adjacent to the stadium. Although the journey time is around one hour, this is the cheaper and simplest way to reach the stadium on match days.

How do I get tickets for the 2026 Football World Cup?

General ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup will be released exclusively via FIFA, and should only be purchased via official channels. Freedom Destinations cannot include match day tickets in holiday packages.

Where is best place to stay in Boston for the 2026 Football World Cup?

Accommodation around the stadium in Foxborough is limited, and the nearby towns of Franklin and Mansfield are relatively small, so the majority of football fans will be staying in Boston and travelling out to the stadium. For those wishing to be within walking distance of Boston’s South Railway Station then we would recommend the Hilton Boston Park Plaza, Fairmont Copley Plaza or The Boxer Hotel.

What is the expected weather in Boston throughout the tournament?

Boston in June and July typically experiences warm weather, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C (70°F to 85°F). It is advisable to keep a jacket with you to accommodate varying weather conditions.

What else can I do in Boston away from the football?

The Freedom Trail is the most famous walking route in Boston, and tells the story of the American Revolution. Following the red brick markers around the city you can visit museums, churches and historic Boston neighbourhoods. Around the harbour you can visit the the historic US Navy ship the USS Constitution and jump onboard for a short cruise. If you enjoy a trip on the ocean, then Boston is a good spot to join a whale watching tour. You can spot Humpback, Minke, and Finback whales as well as dolphins and other wildlife on a whale watching tour from the Boston Harbour.

Boston is the gateway to New England, so why not collect an RV motorhome or car and go exploring. You can drive the picturesque Kancamagus Highway and search for the famous covered bridges of Vermont. Be sure to try the clam chowder and some locally brewed beer on the way.

What other World Cup host cities combine well with Boston?

Boston combines well with other American East Coast cities such as New York and Philadelphia. It also works well with Toronto, just across the border into Canada.
