Vancouver & The 2026 Football World Cup

We can help you plan and book your holiday to Vancouver & British Columbia for the Football World Cup in June and July 2026.

What is the best way to get to Vancouver?

Both British Airways and Air Canada offer daily direct flights from London to Vancouver. United, Delta and American Airlines also fly to Vancouver with a stop in one of the USA cities on the way. Vancouver is on the Canadian VIA Rail network, connecting with Calgary and the eastern side of Canada. Amtrack also connects Vancouver with Seattle in the USA.

Which Vancouver stadium is used for the world cup?

The BC Place stadium in Vancouver will host all seven of Vancouver’s fixtures in the 2026 Football World Cup, including two for Canada’s National Team. The stadium has a capacity for 54,000 spectators and has a retractable roof. BC Place has already hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics and the FIFA Women’s World Cup and is the home stadium for the Vancouver Whitecaps and BC Lions.

What is the best way to get to the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver?

BC Place is located at 777 Pacific Boulevard in Downtown Vancouver, so is easily accessed from most hotels in the city. If you choose not to walk to the stadium then you could utilise the Translink bus, or the Skytrain rail transit network and alighting at Chinatown or Yaletown.

How do I get tickets for the 2026 Football World Cup?

General ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup will be released exclusively via FIFA, and should only be purchased via official channels. Freedom Destinations cannot include match day tickets in holiday packages.

Where is best place to stay in Vancouver for the 2026 Football World Cup?

Because the BC Place Stadium is located in Downtown Vancouver, it is easily accessed from all over the city, so the location of your Vancouver hotel isn’t as crucial as other host cities. In Vancouver you could choose to stay in Downtown, Yaletown or Gastown, but Coal Harbour and the waterfront areas will offer the best views of the sea and the mountains of British Columbia.

Will there be a Fanzone and other events around Vancouver?

The city is planning a Fan Zone and other events near to the stadium on matchdays, particularly when the Canada National Team are playing. These will be announced by the city closer to the matchdays.

What is the expected weather in Vancouver throughout the tournament?

Vancouver in June and July typically experiences mild to warm weather, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). It is advisable to pack layers to accommodate varying conditions.

What else can I do in Vancouver away from the football?

Wherever you go in Vancouver the backdrop is going to be either the blue seas of the Pacific Ocean or the mountain peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Around Downtown you can enjoy a stroll through Vancouver’s historic Gastown district, known of its cobblestone streets and famous steam-powered clock. It is also home to trendy boutiques and fashionable restaurants. Granville Island is also well-known for its dining options as well as its market and artisan shops.Perhaps the best place to go to absorb the spectacular views is Stanley Park, which combines lush forests, beaches and coastal paths, all within walking distance of downtown. We recommend renting a bike if you wish to complete a loop around the sea wall.

Just outside the city, a must-visit is the Capilano Suspension Bridge. This 137 metre rope-bridge crosses the Capilano River and provides access to lush rainforest and treetop canopy walkways. Similarly a trip to Grouse Mountain will provide plenty of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking and zip-lining. You can also take the cable car up the mountain for spectacular view.
